Stargate Reboot Gets Green Light

It was only last year that Roland Emmerich was quoted on a Stargate reboot.

“We went to MGM, who has the rights, and proposed to them to do a sequel, but as a reboot… and reboot it as a movie and then do three parts. Pretty soon we’ll have to look for a writer and start.”

Now it appears that MGM and Warner Bros have confirmed that Roland Emmerich will direct and Dean Devlin will produce a Stargate Trilogy.

“We couldn’t be more excited to once again partner with Roland and Dean, the world-class creators of the original ‘Stargate,’ to bring their reinvigorated vision of this wildly popular property to audiences of multiple generations,” MGM chairman-CEO Gary Barber said. “’Stargate’ is one of the biggest titles in MGM’s vast library, and we look forward to adding this great franchise to our slate.”

Tell us what you think about a Stargate reboot and what elements from the Universe you would like to see! This is the perfect time to finally bring the Stargate fans more of the Stargate Universe we love and hopefully create a new buzz around the franchise. I’m sure some fans are upset about a reboot but I don’t see why, over and over again Stargate has brought us new adventures and new characters that we have grown to love. Maybe we will get to see the Wraith or the System Lords again.

Arriving on Abydos with his team, O’Neill meets up once again with the scientist, who has discovered a giant elaborate cartouche in hieroglyphics. All signs point to the fact that this is a map of many Stargates that exist throughout the galaxy – a development that makes the dream of the SG-1 team to travel throughout the universe in time a reality.
